Blue Charter Fellowships

ACU Blue Charter Fellowships help to tackle marine pollution by supporting world-class research in marine plastics, with a particular focus on:

  • preventing plastics from getting into the sea
  • developing alternatives to plastics
  • the potential for cleaning up the seas

The fellowships, generously funded by Waitrose & Partners and in partnership with the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), form part of the Commonwealth Marine Plastics Research & Innovation Framework – a global hub which aims to share scientific and technical expertise in this vital area – and support the aims of the Commonwealth Blue Charter.

Ten talented researchers are currently undertaking placements of up to six months at ACU member universities across the Commonwealth, as well as in industry.

Applications are currently closed.

I would like to thank the ACU Blue Charter research fellows all around the commonwealth for the hard work they are doing, and I hope that their experience has been just as good, if not better than the one I had.

- Rufino Robert Varea, Blue Charter Fellow
