Connecting King’s Fellows across Commonwealth Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to facilitate learning and action towards building resilience to climate change.
Commonwealth Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are defined by their commonalities; remoteness, coastal communities, low-lying coastal plains and their shared challenge of acute vulnerabilities to the impacts of climate change. Connecting individuals working to address these vulnerabilities is essential for mutual learning, maintaining motivation, and fast-tracking action.
The King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme (KCFP) Community of Practice (CoP) aims to achieve this. A collaborative platform designed to connect and support the diverse cohort of King’s Fellows across disciplines, geographies, and career stages, the CoP serves as a space for fellows to exchange knowledge, build meaningful relationships, and amplify their impact within and beyond the fellowship period.
The purpose of the CoP is:
- To facilitate knowledge exchange through tailored training, webinars, and shared resources that support all King’s Fellows.
- To foster an engaging and active community where fellows can network, collaborate, and access mentorship opportunities.
- To showcase impact and achievements through storytelling that informs and inspires stakeholders, including donors and partners.
To achieve these goals, the CoP will deliver a range of core activities, including:
- Fellow Highlights: Regular articles spotlighting fellows’ work and achievements.
- Thematic Clusters: inter-disciplinary and cross-strand collaboration in thematic groups through quarterly meetings and ongoing communication.
- Webinars: Monthly sessions led by guest speakers and fellows themselves.
- Resource Bank: A curated collection of open-access literature, toolkits, and training materials.
- Training Sessions: Skill-building sessions tailored to the needs of PhDs and undergraduates.
- Community Engagement Posts: Weekly updates on news, events, and opportunities.
