Digital credentials

Two People Looking At Computer

The Association of Commonwealth Universities is pleased to announce our partnership with Accredible, to provide our Ambassadors with digital credentials highlighting their ACU membership.

Our digital badges allow you to share your ACU affiliation with your colleagues, peers, employers, and your wider network. Digital badges can be used across social media channels and e-mail signatures.

Frequently asked questions

What are digital credentials?

A digital credential is a validated indicator of accomplishment, skill, or interest. It is offered to individuals in the form of either a digital badge (sometimes referred to as ‘ebadge’), or a digital certificate.

Who is eligible for an ACU Ambassador digital badge?

ACU currently offers the opportunity for all nominated ACU Ambassadors to obtain a digital badge provided they remain employed by their member institution.

What are the benefits of an ACU Ambassador digital badge?

ACU Ambassador badges are portable, immutable, verifiable, and uniquely linked to you. By providing these digitally, you can promote your ACU membership more easily to potential partners and your professional network. You can also opt-in to the digital register which offers an online, searchable record of your digital credentials.

How can I obtain my ACU Ambassador badge?

Ambassadors will be sent an e-mail and activation link each year as part of their institution’s membership renewal process. You can use the link within the e-mail to activate your badge.

ACU periodically contacts Ambassadors with an invitation to claim their badge if it hasn’t already been claimed. We invite Ambassadors to get in touch if they have not yet received an invitation. A registered e-mail address will be required to dispatch the credential.

Which email should I use?

We will only issue the digital credential to an email address associated with your institution. We recommend that you use a university e-mail address to which you currently have access. It should not be a generic, shared, or departmental e-mail address, as the credential issued will be exclusively for your use and cannot be transferred. Please note that the address and membership status may be verified before your credentials are dispatched.

How can I share my ACU Ambassador digital badge?

A unique URL is one of the most valuable ways to share your credential. It can be placed in a variety of places, including but not limited to:

  • Social media profiles
  • Websites and blogs
  • Digital resumes
  • Email signatures

Widgets on your credential view allow you to display your badge on most social media channels at the click of a button.

How can someone in my network verify my credential?

Colleagues and others within your professional network can easily verify your credentials. Once you share this (through any of the options above), a viewer can verify its authenticity by searching your unique ID or clicking the link, which directs the verifying party to view the full details of your credential.

To further strengthen the verification of your ACU Ambassador badge, our provider (Accredible) utilises Blockchain technology to ensure that credentials remain uneditable and fraud-proof.

For how long is an ACU Ambassador digital badge valid?

Your digital badge is valid for the duration of the membership cycle, which runs from the August 1 to July 31 each year. After this period, you will have the option to renew your credential if your institution continues to hold membership with ACU.

What is the significance of the different colours?

ACU Ambassador badges are colour coded to delineate the geographic region that the Ambassador’s institution is based in. This is to help members identify colleagues you may wish to connect with and facilitate cross-regional engagement.

I’m not the nominated contact for my institution, how do I find out if my university has an Ambassador, and who it is?
