Speakers: Professor Dr Darlene Clover and Professor Emeritus Dr Budd Hall, University of Victoria, Canada

Join us online or at the ACU office to hear from experts Dr Budd Hall and Dr Darlene Clover on their latest research on imagination, knowledge, and action for today's global challenges.

Darlene is a Professor of Adult Education and the Feminist Imaginary at the University of Victoria in Canada. Budd is Co-Chair of the UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education, a position he shares with Dr Rajesh Tandon of PRIA in India.

Both Darlene and Budd are informed by principles of epistemic humility, learning for justice and sustainability and the feminist imaginary. In this talk, they will share stories about their current research activities.

Budd will speak to work that his UNESCO Chair is engaged with in their DECODE Knowledge Project. The DECODE project documents evidence of decolonised, transformative, and actionable knowledge generated by community and Indigenous-led research within the area of climate resilience. Their work is currently located in the Canadian Arctic in Indigenous western Canada, Acholi in Uganda, Putumayo in Colombia, Borneo in Malaysia, and Himalayas in India.

Darlene will share her current explorations into different theories of the imagination and their links to the critical competencies educators argue are required for today’s complexly troubled world.
