Online
Delivered in partnership with Springer Nature, this webinar will provide practical guidance on key stages of the publication process, from journal selection through to peer review, publication and dissemination. Participants will explore common challenges researchers encounter when preparing and publishing research and consider strategies for navigating these successfully.
The scholarly publishing landscape is changing rapidly. Researchers are increasingly expected to navigate questions of authorship, publication ethics, open access, data sharing, transparent reporting and the responsible use of AI. These issues influence not only whether research is published, but how it can be accessed, used and scrutinised by others.
As part of the activities of the ACU Supporting Research Community, this session will examine how publication ethics, open science practices and the responsible use of AI can strengthen the quality, credibility and reach of research. Participants will be introduced to resources available through Springer Nature and Research4Life, including publishing guidance, researcher training and access to research journals.
This session will explore:
- How researchers can improve their chances of publication through effective manuscript preparation and journal selection.
- Common challenges encountered during submission, peer review and publication, and how they can be avoided.
- Key publication ethics issues, including authorship, plagiarism and responsible research conduct.
- How to identify trusted journals and avoid predatory publishing practices.
- Responsible approaches to the use of AI in research and scholarly publishing.
- How open access publishing, data sharing and transparent reporting can increase the visibility, accessibility and credibility of research.
- Guidance, training opportunities and research resources available through Springer Nature and Research4Life.
This session will be of interest to early-career and postgraduate researchers, academic staff and supervisors, research managers and professional services staff, and anyone seeking to strengthen their understanding of publication ethics, research integrity, open science and scholarly publishing.
