From Research to Resilience: Commonwealth Doctoral Research Shaping Climate and Health
10th March 2026
12:00-13:15 UTC
Online
As part of our Commonwealth Day 2026 celebrations, the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) will host a 75-minute online showcase of doctoral research from the King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme (KCFP).
This interactive webinar brings together KCFP PhD Fellows from across the Commonwealth who are using research to address some of the most urgent challenges facing Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and other vulnerable contexts, from climate displacement and clean energy transitions, to community health, biodiversity loss and disaster risk reduction.
Why attend?
This session is designed for ACU member universities seeking to demonstrate global impact, policy relevance and real-world value through research and mobility.
You will:
- Hear directly from Commonwealth PhD Fellows undertaking cutting-edge, policy-relevant research.
- Learn more about the KCFP model and how it supports leadership, collaboration and system-level change.
- Explore how universities can strengthen their role in building climate resilience, developing health systems, supporting energy transitions, and preventing biodiversity loss.
- Connect with Fellows as future research collaborators, partners and leaders across the Commonwealth.
Interactive discussion
The session will conclude with a short open discussion on:
- How doctoral researchers can be supported to engage with policymakers and communities.
- What kinds of partnerships enable research-to-impact in resource-constrained contexts.
- What can be learned from the KCFP model for future mobility and fellowship programmes.
- How a stronger Commonwealth research ecosystem can be built and sustained.
Join this Commonwealth Week showcase and connect with the next generation of research leaders driving resilience across the Commonwealth.
