Join us for a focus group discussion on the topic of 'Assessing institutional climate research capacity in sub-Saharan Africa'.

The purpose of this focus group is to explore and interrogate indicators related to assessing institutional climate research capacity in sub-Saharan Africa. They will be held virtually via Zoom at the following times:

  • 26 January 2022, 10:00-12:00 UTC
  • 1 February 2022, 10:00-12:00 UTC
  • 3 February 2022, 10:00-12:00 UTC

In 2022, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the International Development Research Centre, and the Natural Environment Research Council are designing a new framework to coordinate their investments in climate and resilience research in sub-Saharan Africa over the next 10 years. A core feature of this framework will be the support of research capacity strengthening initiatives in universities and research institutions in sub-Saharan Africa.

To support the development of this framework, the ACU is developing a set of indicators that can be used to better understand current institutional capacity to perform climate research in sub-Saharan African institutions. The aim of the focus group is to bring together experts in this field to discuss and receive feedback on the draft indicators.
