Professor Jim Lavery, Conrad N Hilton Chair in Global Health Ethics Emory University, USA

Professor Jim Lavery is the inaugural Conrad N Hilton Chair in Global Health Ethics, Professor in the Hubert Department of Global Health in the Rollins School of Public Health, and Professor in the Faculty of the Center for Ethics at Emory University, USA.

Prior to joining the Emory faculty, he was a research scientist and Managing Director of the Centre for Ethical, Social & Cultural Risk at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St Michael's Hospital (Toronto); he was also an Associate Professor in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, Institute of Medical Science, and Joint Centre for Bioethics at the University of Toronto.

He is the founder of the Human Engagement Learning Platform (HELP) which helps global health organisations translate ethical intentions into policy and practice through community and stakeholder engagement, fair partnerships, and organisational learning.

Dr Marta Tufet, Executive Director, UK Collaborative on Development Research (UKCDR), UK

Dr Marta Tufet joined UKCDR as Executive Director in early 2018. She leads UKCDR providing high-level engagement and strategic coordination of the Strategic Coherence of ODA-funded Research (SCOR) Board.

Marta previously led the development of the UK Department of Health’s first National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Global Health Research Programme, while on secondment from Wellcome where, since 2009, she had been developing and implementing a wider range of Wellcome’s strategic research funding partnerships and capacity strengthening initiatives in developing countries, including fast-tracking the Ebola research response.

She has a broad understanding of policy, research and the funding landscape having previously also worked at the African Academy of Sciences in Kenya to establish the Alliance for Accelerating Excellence in Science in Africa (AESA), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Seattle, the Charles Darwin Research Station in the Galapagos Islands, and at the journal, Nature.

She is a Trustee of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene and Chair of its Grants & Awards Committee, and a Trustee of the Galapagos Conservation Trust. Marta has a research background in malaria with a BSc in biology and a PhD in parasitology from Imperial College London.

Professor Lyn Horn, Director, Office of Research Integrity, University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa

Professor Lyn Horn is currently the Director of the Office of Research Integrity at UCT and an Extraordinary [Honorary] Associate Professor in the Centre for Applied Ethics at Stellenbosch University. She is also the Co-Chair for the 7^th World Conference on Research Integrity https://wcri2022.org/ .

Lyn is a medical doctor and research ethicist and has worked as a clinician in the public health sector for the first 20 years of her career before transitioning to an academic work environment. At UCT, she is actively involved in promoting and facilitating the responsible conduct of research across the entire university.

She currently serves as the bioethics consultant for three international European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) funded clinical trials relating to tuberculosis and HIV, hence she remains closely involved with research teams implementing clinical trials in Africa. This position has provided unique insights into global research collaborations. Lyn initiated and led the UCT Research Fairness project with the internal report now complete.

Dr Mousumi Mukherjee, Associate Professor & Deputy Director of the International Institute for Higher Education Research & Capacity Building, O P Jindal Global University, India

Dr. Mousumi Mukherjee is an Associate Professor & Deputy Director of the International Institute for Higher Education Research and Capacity Building, the Member Secretary of the Research Ethics and Review Board and founding Executive Director of the Centre for Comparative and Global Education, O.P. Jindal Global University. She is a Steering Committee Member of the Association of Commonwealth University’s Supporting Research Community and a Research Standing Committee Member of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies. She is also Fellow and Country Director (India) of the Society of Transnational Academic Researchers.

Dr. Mukherjee is a Fulbright alumna and a recipient of Phi Beta Delta Honor Society Medallion for International Education and the Washington Centre Civic Engagement award. She has published over 20 research articles in internationally peer-reviewed journals and edited books. Recently, she received 2021 Best Published article award by the South Asia (SIG) of the Comparative and International Education Society.
