Senior Membership Officer, International

Are you an experienced relationship manager with a desire to travel? We are recruiting for three new posts to help to deliver our ambitious new membership strategy. The post holders will have the opportunity to build long lasting relationships and develop new engagement initiatives in their region of the Commonwealth.

Established in 1913, the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) is the world's first and oldest international university network, with more than 500 member institutions in over 50 countries. The ACU champions higher education as a force for good in the Commonwealth and beyond.

As Senior Membership Officer - International, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Senior Programmes Manager, to develop strategies and implementation plans for ACU member engagement, retention and recruitment.
  • Developing relationships with ACU members and key stakeholders including funders, governments and national higher education bodies.
  • Supporting ACU’s policy function by contributing to ACU’s understanding of intelligence on major policy developments in the region
  • Acting as a senior representative for the organisation at conferences, meetings and events.

Some of the skills you will need to be able to demonstrate include:


1. Relationship Management skills, with the ability to develop long lasting relationships at different levels of seniority

2. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills including written communication.

3. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence others

4. Strategic thinking with the ability to adapt to changing priorities

5. A commitment to team work, with the ability to work independently and show initiative and exercise sound judgement.
