UK study tour for HR practitioners – bursaries and discounted rates available for ACU members

Published on 06 December 2017

The ACU HR in HE Community is offering two fully funded places to HR practitioners at ACU member universities to join a HR Study Tour in the UK from 14-25 May 2018, run by HR Global Innovations.

The cross-institutional and cultural HR development programme will bring together senior HR practitioners from universities around the world, led by HR consultants Steve Daysh, Elizabeth Baré, Brian Mallory and John Steele. It will include attendance to the UHR (Universities Human Resources) Conference in Bristol, field trips to national organisations, including the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA), and visits to selected UK universities.

Through presentations, discussions, case studies, and meetings, delegates will:

  • Develop knowledge of higher education in an international context
  • Learn about innovative Human Resource Management strategy and practice
  • Exchange views and expertise with other participants in a global context
  • Network with fellow HR practitioners and key players at host universities
  • Work on institutional case studies and develop new thinking and approaches to solving specific HR or institutional problems
  • Evaluate their own practice against international standards
  • Learn how HR departments in other institutions are organised and resourced, and the specific HR challenges they face

Bursaries for ACU members

The bursaries are open to senior HR practitioners at ACU member universities who are in the process of developing their HR function. This could mean moving the HR function from a transactional to a more strategic model; enhancing the contribution that the HR function makes to achieving institutional strategic objectives; increasing the profile of the HR function or establishing a new HR function.

Applications for bursaries will close on Wednesday 10 January 2018. Apply here.

Discounted rates for ACU members

There are discounted rates available for ACU members who have a well-developed HR function, and a discounted early bird rate is available if you register before 12 January 2018. There are only 20 places on the programme, so please ensure you apply as soon as possible.
