Gender workshop grants

The ACU Gender Programme offers grants to help member universities to meet the costs of organising workshops promoting gender equity in higher education. The grants of up to GBP 1,000 will be awarded annually on a competitive basis.

Gender SDGs workshop Nairobi

Suitable workshop topics include (but are not limited to): gender mainstreaming in universities, addressing sexual and gender based harassment and violence on campus, gender considerations in research, women in leadership, and women in science and research.

Workshops can be part of a wider institutional effort to promote gender equity, for example through the establishment of a sexual harassment response mechanism, the introduction of institutional gender policies and practices, or mainstreaming gender into the academic curriculum, etc.

While developing their workshop proposal, applicants are encouraged to use the training resources created by the ACU, or to ask the ACU for advice and support with programme development if needed.

2017 grants

Applications for the 2017 round of ACU Gender workshop grants have now closed.

Terms and conditions

Each of the successful institutions will receive up to GBP 1,000 to run a gender workshop at their institution.

For successful proposals, the allocated amount will be reimbursed after the event upon submission of narrative and financial reports. Full grant terms and conditions are available on the application form

Interested institutions should expect to bear some preliminary expenses for the organisation of the workshop, and therefore should not completely rely on the grant itself. Any requests to release agreed funding in advance should be stated at the point of application.

A list of all eligible costs is specified in the application form.

The ACU expects the applicants’ institutions to provide basic support, for example by providing the venue for the meeting and basic administrative services.
