Over the course of three days, young leaders from across the Commonwealth will convene at Cumberland Lodge, UK, for the first workshop in the Commonwealth Futures series.

Over the course of three days, young people will have the chance to share their unique knowledge, skills and experience, and contribute to policy documents for the 12th Commonwealth Youth Forum that runs alongside the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Rwanda in 2020.

The workshop will focus on two of the key themes on the Commonwealth Youth Forum agenda - ICT and Innovations, and The Rule of Law – and their roles and potential for promoting social cohesion around the world.

Special guests attending, alongside representatives from a raft of Commonwealth institutions, include:

  • Her Excellency Yamina Karitanyi, UK High Commissioner for the Republic of Rwanda
  • Dr Arjoon Suddhoo, Deputy Secretary-General, Commonwealth Secretariat
  • Christine Ohuruogu MBE, retired Olympic athlete / Law graduate, Queen Mary University of London

Outcomes from the symposium will directly contribute to both the 2020 Commonwealth Youth Forum, and the British Council’s London ‘Going Global 2020’ conference in May 2020.

This event is convened in partnership with Cumberland Lodge, the Commonwealth Secretariat, and the British Council.
