Programme Officer (Commonwealth Scholarships)

£29,065 - £33,466 per annum | 35 hours per week | Fixed Term (12 months maternity cover) | London WC1H

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the ACU for a Programme Officer to support our work within the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) Secretariat. Managing a portfolio of individual students, you will act as their first point of contact for all issues, both prior to and during their award as well as acting as the named contact for a group of UK Host institutions. You will play a critical role in representing our work to its most important recipients: the award holders themselves.

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), a registered UK charity, has administered international postgraduate scholarship programmes for almost 60 years. Most of our work is for external sponsors, including UK government departments. In all cases, we are committed to helping sponsors meet the objectives of their investment and to providing an excellent service to award holders themselves.

Educated to degree level, with a patient, student-focussed and considerate approach, you will have a clear understanding of rules and regulations and a determination that these should be applied fairly and consistently.

To join us as Programme Officer, you will need:

• Relevant experience of working in an international development context or HE/Educational Officer environment
• Strong communication and inter-personal skills
• A flexible, team-based approach
• A genuine interest in the wider issues which underpin our work – most notably the work of the Commonwealth and international development
• Willingness to undertake UK travel where required

Our open approach encourages inputs and ideas at all times, and some contact with external stakeholders including UK universities can be expected.

Benefits include 31 days holiday per year (including 4 Christmas closure days) plus bank holidays, competitive pension scheme (10% employer contribution and 5% employee contribution), season ticket loan, childcare voucher scheme and excellent support for learning and development.

As Programme Officer you will be employed by ACU Trading Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the ACU.

At the ACU, we welcome and encourage applications from everyone regardless of gender, race, religion, marital status, disability, age, and sexual orientation.
