Want to develop and lead on the delivery of an organisation-wide events programme both in the UK and internationally?  We have an ambitious new vision and strategy to increase our membership and influence to be the voice for higher education for the Commonwealth and we are looking for a creative events professional who can be instrumental in delivering an inspiring events strategy to raise the profile of the organisation.

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) is the world’s first international higher education network and has over 500 member universities in over 50 countries across the Commonwealth.

As Events Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and leading an ACU-wide events strategy that support the organisation’s strategic priorities

• Line Management of one events officer, drawing on additional support from the membership team when needed

• Working with the Head of Membership and Director of Programmes to devise new income generating opportunities through events and workshops

• Working with the Head of Membership and Head of Communications to identify opportunities for colleagues to attend, speak, partner or sponsor at external events to raise the profile of the organisation

• Undertaking thorough post-event evaluation, produce reports and making recommendations for future events

• The day-to-day financial management of the events budget

• Identifying and approaching potential sponsors and partners for external events.

Some of the skills and experience you need to be able to demonstrate include:

• Degree educated or professional equivalent

• Extensive experience of devising and delivering relevant, well planned, engaging and innovative event activity

• Experience of designing new revenue generating events and new product development

• Experience of budget setting and management

• Proven experience of dealing with sponsors and external partners

• Ability to balance competing priorities under pressure of deadlines and workload.

• Interest in/ or experience of the Higher Education sector/ international development
