Margaret was inspired to apply for a Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarship so she could develop her knowledge and research in an intercultural setting.
With her work focusing on how small-scale fisheries contribute to wider community food security, Margaret’s research at the University of Cape Town is directly contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals – specifically helping to ensure marine resources are used sustainably and that zero hunger becomes an ever more realistic goal.
I believe education in general is important, all people should have access to some form of education. For those people who are fortunate to go to a higher education institute… it’s very important for individuals to take advantage of this and help achieve something; whether it be for themselves, or whether it be for their community.
