Fellowships, Staff and Student Mobility

 

The Awards Division seeks to promote staff and student mobility and to assist in institutional capacity-building through its management of a range of scholarship schemes, fellowship programmes and bursaries which are sponsored by various Governmental and Commonwealth bodies. 


The Division also awards BURSARIES AND MOBILITY GRANTS to support staff at ACU member universities in developing countries, to attend major events

British Academy/ACU Grants for International Collaboration

Grants are available for advanced research, at postdoctoral or equivalent level or beyond in the fields of the humanities and social sciences. Awards will not be made retrospectively; applications must be made in time for them to be considered well before the research is due to begin.  Participants must be on the staff of a university in membership of the ACU at the time of application.

Canada Memorial Foundation Scholarships

The awards are intended for persons of high academic promise and leadership potential who will play a full part in the life of the Canadian community which they visit and who will return to contribute fully to UK society. Candidates must be UK citizens and hold, or expect to attain, a minimum of an upper second class degree.

Bursaries and mobility grants

 

Closing Date

 

Research Management Bursaries - for the INORMS 2010 conference 

Their purpose is to enable Research Management staff based in Universities in developing countries, to attend International Research Management events – in particular, the biennial International Network of Research Management Societies (INORMS) congress.  The next INORMS congress will be held in the week 11-15th April, in Cape Town.  Participants must be on the staff of a university in membership of the ACU at the time of application.

Mobility Grants - for the Euro-Africa Cooperation Forum on ICT Research 2010 

This event will take place in Addis Ababa (United Nations Conference Centre), Ethiopia, on 3 February 2010.   The ACU’s Africa Unit is a consortium partner and Work package leader in the EuroAfriCa-ICT project.   There are a limited number of mobility grants (of up to GBP 1,000) available for representatives of ACU member institutions who wish to attend the Forum but have limited financial resources. Edward Boyle Memorial Trust Medical Elective Bursaries 
Their purpose is to enable medical students in Britain to gain, during their elective period, practical experience in developing Commonwealth countries.  Applicants must be medical students in the UK
