The global answer to your recruitment advertising needs
The Association of Commonwealth Universities offers an innovative International Noticeboard which ensures that all those seeking academic posts, whichever country they live or work in, can see your advertisement. While making full use of the latest Internet technology we do not exclude those without these facilities; the range of coverage in print and on screen means that all eligible applicants have easy access to the full details of your vacancy by whichever means suits them best.
What is the International Noticeboard?
The service comprises the following:
Websites
jobs.ac.uk is used by all UK universities; and independent surveys show that the site is viewed by more than 60% of those actively seeking academic jobs in the UK. The site carries more than 1,500 vacancies at any one time and is accessed more than 500,000 times per month (25% of the response is from the USA and 15% from Europe outside the UK). The site also offers free hypertext links to universities’ own homepages and has a jobs by email service which automatically forwards suitable vacancies to subscribers as soon as they are posted.
ACU’s own website carries details of vacancies from all round the Commonwealth, provides links to all websites of ACU members and is accessed more than 100,000 times a month. It also offers a jobs by email service. See our current vacancieshere.
We are now able to offer as part of the International Noticeboard service Guardian Jobs, one of the UK's top ten most popular destinations for internet jobhunters, with over a million potential candidates using the site a month. Jobs advertised on the site also reach passive candidates amongst the 6 million monthly users on Guardian Unlimited. The full text of your advertisement will appear under the ACU’s listings.
Press Coverage
You will receive an entry in the ACU listing of international vacancies, which appears in Guardian Weekly, the well-established and highly-regarded title with a world-wide readership of over 170,000 in 180 countries (in addition to the 367,000+ readership in South African Mail & Guardian). Surveys show that 89% of the journal's readers are graduates, 43% have a doctorate or other higher degree and 36% are already working in education. Over two thirds of readers would re-locate for work, 86% have worked out of their country of origin with two thirds of jobseekers looking at Lecturer and Professor positions. The full text of your advertisement will be faxed, emailed or airmailed to enquirers without access to the websites.
Vacancies Bulletin
ACU’s vacancies bulletin is issued twice a month (see attached schedule) and sent to all UK universities, to individual subscribers and to enquirers who contact us about university posts. It is sent by email wherever possible to ensure instant receipt but a printed version is also available for those who prefer it.
How do we place an advertisement?
Simply send the text of your advertisement to the Association of Commonwealth Universities (Advertising), Woburn House, 20-24 Tavistock Square, London WC1H 9HF, UK and we will do the rest. Text can be faxed (+44 (0)20 7387 2655) or emailed (adverts@acu.ac.uk) – please include the text in the body of the message or as a Word or PDF attachment, and specify the service you require (see below). You will be invoiced at the end of the month in which the advertisement appears; please specify an order number if you would like this quoted on the invoice.

Who are ACU/jobs.ac.uk?
The Association of Commonwealth Universities represents the interests of around 485 higher education institutions in 36 Commonwealth countries or regions. If you are in a university in a Commonwealth country, you are almost certainly a member.
jobs.ac.uk was established by a consortium of 37 UK universities and is based at the University of Warwick. Created by the academic community for the academic community, it provides a targeted and cost-effective alternative to expensive newspaper advertising and protects the sector from exploitation by commercial Internet recruitment websites.
