The Harkness Fellows Association and Transatlantic Trust is the alumni association of Harkness Fellowships, an international exchange programme offering fellowships in the USA, which ran from 1925 to 1998. The aims of the association are to keep alive the spirit of the programme, to encourage trans-Atlantic contacts and relationships and, if possible, to relaunch a modernised programme in a form appropriate to the 21st century. To this end it runs a programme of lectures, seminars, workshops and other activities, publishes an annual newsletter, the 'Transatlantic Report' and has commissioned a film about the programme.
Membership of the Harkness Fellows Association is open to all interested in trans-Atlantic relationships. The core of our members are former Harkness and Commonwealth Fund Fellows who at some stage in their careers enjoyed the benefit of living, studying and travelling in the United States of America, generously funded by the Commonwealth Fund of New York.
