Bursaries
1. ACU Endowment Fund Bursaries
The ACU is keen to ensure that this conference has a genuinely global representation and that members from less economically advantaged countries, in particular, have the opportunity to attend. In view of this, we are pleased to offer up to ten bursaries for nominated applicants from ACU member institutions in the following countries:
Bangladesh, Barbados, Botswana, Cameroon, Fiji, Ghana, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Tanzania, Trinidad & Tobago, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The bursaries will cover the conference registration fee (including lunches and evening meals on 6, 7 and 8 March), airport transfers in Sri Lanka and up to a maximum of four nights' accommodation at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, but not flights to Colombo, extra nights' accommodation or additional expenses. The payment will be made directly to the conference secretariat / hotel on each bursary recipient's behalf.
Applications, which must be endorsed by the Executive Head of your institution, can be accessed here.
2. HIV/AIDS Grants
The ACU has a designated fund which is available to support the attendance of ten delegates from less economically advantaged countries (as per the list above) who have particular interests or expertise in the area of HIV/AIDS. Applications will be especially welcome from those who are able to contribute to debates about ways in which their institution has either engaged in research or introduced strategies which have sought to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on university women, female students or women in the community.
The terms of the bursaries will be as for the Endowment Fund Bursaries detailed above; and a link to the application form can be found here.
