University leaders and those with strategic, policy, professional or academic responsibilities for, and interest in, gender equity and equality, curriculum development, research, community engagement and the development of international partnerships.

Those with similar responsibilities and interests in Ministries of Education, National University Associations, national and international women’s organisations, business and industry.

Students and higher education Alumni will also be welcome.

Accommodation and Travel

Accommodation & Airport Transfers:

Where possible, special rates have been negotiated by the University of Kelaniya with the hotels below (more hotel choices will be added to the website shortly).   Delegates should make their reservations with the hotel of their choice, using the contact points and / or conference booking reference quoted:

Airport Transfers:  Cinnamon Grand operates a 24 hour counter at the Bandaranaike International Airport to assist guests on arrival.   Airport transfers can be arranged for delegates in cars or micro-vans at the following rates:

Car:  US$ 50.00 Net each way (minimum 2 persons)
Micro-Van:  US$ 70.00 Net each way (minimum 6 persons)

You may either book and pay in advance or book at the airport desk upon arrival.  If you wish to book on arrival and wish to share a micro-van with other guests, this is possible.   In that case you would have to pay for for your transfer as soon as you check in to the hotel.

 

Hotel Renuka is about a 15 minute walk from the conference venue hotel, straight down the main road (or you can take a tuk tuk).   We have run a workshop there and know that it is very clean and well run, with a good restaurant.   It also has a private swimming pool, just a couple of minutes' walk down the road beside the hotel (between the hotel and the sea).

The Galle Face Hotel

This is an historic building on a wonderful site, facing Galle Face Green in one direction and the sea in another.   It is within walking distance of the Cinnamon Grand, but you may prefer to take a tuk tuk. 

Our advice would be that, if you decide to stay here, you reserve a room in the refurbished Regency Wing, and it is for those rooms that we are providing quotations below.   Please note, however, that these prices are valid until 31 December 2011, whereafter there may be a price increase.

Travel

A number of airlines fly into Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo, including, for instance:

Sri Lankan Airways;  Emirates;  Etihad;  Jet Airways;  Kingfisher;  Kuwait Airlines;  Oman Air and Qatar Airways.

 

Visas

Please check with the Sri Lankan High Commission as soon as possible to see whether you require a visa to enter Sri Lanka for the purpose of attending a conference.  If so, you will require a letter of invitation from the University of Kelaniya to support your application for a visa.
